Hayward Lit Hop
The Hayward Lit Hop is a literary festival in Downtown Hayward. The event takes place on the last Saturday of April each year (on Independent Bookstore Day in National Poetry Month), and was conceived and organized by a group of literary-minded volunteer community members and is free for all ages.
The Lit Hop begins with local music and a kickoff ceremony in Heritage Plaza with remarks from city officials and librarians and readings from our poet laureates.

Then we disperse out to a variety of smaller hour-long readings from various local writing groups up and down B and C streets before re-congregating for an afterparty with food, drinks, and music. The Hayward Lit Hop is also branching out to co-promote and host readings as part of other events elsewhere in Hayward. See you around town!
